MA Only

***IMPORTANT***

You must now provide a +2 dex ring (providing a +1 seems to just eat the ring) to a Master and say the following; <vendor name>, upgrade

This will now provide the +2 dex bonus on the ring that was previously given by getting the ring and will delete the +2 dex ring. You can confirm this worked by observing your Defense Rating.

Part 1:

First, obtain Crystal Gauntlets, then bring them to Student Jin in Underkingdom, near the MA trainer (east of the portal where you enter Underkingdom).

Student Jin will say, “{player name}, Step forward. Your spirit is louder than your footsteps. I’ve been watching. The question is… are you ready to be seen.”

Say, “Stu, yes”

Student Jin will say, “My iron will is forged through discipline, hardened by battle.. Wait.. you believe yourself ready? Then prove it. Present the gauntlets forged by Puck, relics bestowed only upon the truly worthy.”

Place the Crystal Gauntlets on the ground under Student Jin.

Say, “Stu, teach”

Student Jin will say, “Was that not enough? Gooood… deep within Blackburrow, the Plague Master holds a weapon of decay and deadly precision. He will not part with it willingly.”

Student Jin will say, “Take it from him, and deliver it to the one who once trained me as proof of your worth. If you are truly ready… you will know who to seek.”

Student Jin will say, “Take this as proof of your deeds new and in the future..”

A green ring will appear on the ground. Pick it up. That’s your MA ring. The effects of the MA ring scale with your level, as I assume with your progress in the quest series.

Using the MA Ring:

With the MA ring, once you enter combat you will suddenly see that you have Mana!

Ki

Unlike regular mana, this is Ki which is generated in combat and drains when out of combat. The regeneration rate starts at 0.5 ki per round, meaning you need to be in combat for 2 rounds to generate 1 ki. Unknown if this scales.

You will continue to generate Ki after combat ends for a few rounds as it takes time for you to be flagged as out of combat. Once you are out of combat, Ki degenerates at 0.5 ki per round.

Note that combat seems to be defined by damage, either dealing it or having it dealt to you. You will not be able to regenerate ki in a fight where you lack the damage type to hit a creature if it isn't attacking you causing damage.

To use Ki, you can now use the following commands (Note that Zhuna and Yashar are part of the command, not the players name):

  • Zhuna, fists
    • This generates a multi-attack. It begins at 3+ (like a dice roll) strikes hitting for ~60-80% weapon damage, and scales with level. These strikes can hit multiple targets, or they can all hit the same target. This seems to use anywhere from 1 to 5 ki (may also be a dice roll). Cant figure out what this is based on yet.
  • Zhuna, jump @[hostile]
    • Enables a higher damage, more accurate jumpkick. There seems to be a possibility to "crit" this damage, dealing 200-300% more from time to time. Costs 1 ki
    • This requires 19 hand skill to use. (Or not? A discussion on Discord implied you needed 19, but this command suddenly started working for me despite not leveling up or ranking up in any way. I am currently 9th Dan)
    • Unknown if intentional, but wearing boots seems to unlock the ability to use this command early, allowing Monks to essentially wear boots. Unconfirmed if this is specific to FF boots or not.
  • Zhuna, restock {#} - (e.g. Zhuna, restock 1)
    • 0 = conjures 1 clear balm and then blue balms (if you are high enough level to produce multiple balms at once)
    • 1 = conjures all blue balms
      • Blue balms are upgraded balms that heal more per tick (this may be good or bad depending on what you are doing as it can make riding the balm difficult).
      • More HP = more bonus healing
    • 2 = conjures all clear balms
    • 3 = conjures blue balms and then 1 clear balm (if you are high enough level to produce multiple balms at once)
    • Costs 4 ki and has a cooldown of 2 rounds.
  • Yashar, balm (drink a clear balm)
    • This is just a targeted drink command. You still need the balm in your inventory. This allows you to not need to play bottle jenga in your inventory.
  • Yashar, superbalm (drink a blue balm)
    • This is just a targeted drink command. You still need the balm in your inventory. This allows you to not need to play bottle jenga in your inventory.
  • Yashar, double (drink 2 blue balms)
  • Yashar, dp (drink a DP)
    • This is just a targeted drink command. You still need the dp in your inventory. Handy to keep one around incase you need that burst heal for some reason. This allows you to not need to play bottle jenga in your inventory.
  • Yashar, stamina (drink a Stamina potion)
    • This is just a targeted drink command. You still need the stam pot in your inventory. This allows you to not need to play bottle jenga in your inventory.

You can get a replacement ring by going back to Student Jin and saying, "stu, ring".

Ring effects Part 1:

+0 dex, +1 hp (Ring scales with levels, for example, as level 28 gives +0 Dex, +0 Dodge, +28 HP)

Part 2:

Obtain the Javelin from Plague Master Nook and take it to Master Renshiro near the MA trainer in Blackburrow.

Master Renshiro will say, “Hello {player name}, so my student sent you did he. Come speak with me.”

Place the javelin on the ground under Master Renshiro.

Say, “Mas, teach”

Master Renshiro will say, “So… you found your way here. And you bring that vile thing. I did not think he would part with it ? not without testing your will.

Master Renshiro will say, “Keep it, learn the ways of the staff. But strength alone is not mastery. Power without control is chaos. If you wish to walk the path I taught your mentor, you must now face the lesson he could not complete.”

Master Renshiro will say, “Go to the land of blood. When you find your hands dripping with blood, go seek my student. I have not seen him since he took my last feather.”

Ring effects Part 2

+0 dex, +2 hp

Part 3:

Obtain Blood Gauntlets and take them to Kael Jin.

One of the ways to get to Kael Jin

Kael Jin will say, “You again? Wait what are you doing here…”

Place the Blood Gauntlets on the ground under Kael Jin.

Say, “Kae, teach”

Kael Jin will say, “You.. you have them…”

Kael Jin will say, “Those gauntlets show you are far more than I will ever be. Take them to the land of many peaks, seek the master.

Kael Jin will say, “Don’t go empty handed, I suggest visiting the Warped one and claim his staff.”

Ring effects Part 3:

+0 dex, +4 hp

Part 4:

Obtain the Warped Threestaff and bring it to Takeshi Tenshiro in Razala’s Peaks.

Takeshi Renshiro will say, “I greet you {player name}, what did you bring to prove your worth?”

Place the Warped Threestaff on the ground under Takeshi Renshiro.

Say, “Tak, teach”

I believe you need to be at a certain experience level to complete this part.

Takeshi Renshiro will say, “You grow quickly my student…”

Takeshi Renshiro will say, “Your next trial awaits in the land where pandas roam and the hills freeze. Bring the crystal nails of the beast to the master of the Pagoda.”

Ring effects Part 4:

+0 dex, +6 hp

Part 5:

Obtain Makon Gauntlets and bring them to Eiro Shen upstairs in Torrii.

Eiro Shen will say, "Do you have something for me {player name}."

Eiro Shen will say, "Bring me the hands of the green beast, be careful though."

Place the Makon Gauntlets on the ground under Eiro Shen.

Say, “Eir, teach”

Eiro Shen will say, "Hmm, they might have been right about you..."

Eiro Shen will say, "Well go now and train. More power awaits you, but not now..."

The last part of this quest could use some confirmation, we patched together the details, so they may not be 100% accurate.
